Pouya Afshar

Pouya Afshar (born in Tehran, Iran in 1984) is an Iranian American contemporary artist.
==Biography==
Born in Tehran in 1984, he immigrated to the United States in 2000. He is an alumnus from the California Institute of Arts’ Character Animation department, as well as a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles’ Graduate Department of Film and Television, where he focused on Animation and Digital Media.
Starting 2004, he became an Animation and Drawing Instructor at the Sony Pictures Media Arts Program and since 2007 has worked with Inner City Arts Foundation in Los Angeles for various community projects, with Vije Institute of Visual Arts, in its Animation Production Workshop since 2009 and freelanced with Disney Studios. He has also written for various arts and community publications and has done visual effects and animation for concerts and other events. HE has short films including ''Homeless'' (2002, 1:30), ''Clouds'' (2003, 3:20), ''Stay Tuned'' (2004, 2:08), ''Rumi'' (2005, 4:08), ''Little Prince'' (2006, 2:48), ''Savaar'' (2006, 4:07), ''Dawn'' (2006, 1:38), ''Zaal'' (2008, 4:13), ''Heart Beats of the Beast'' (2009, 5:30) and '' Do you dream in color?'' (2010).〔(Tavoos Magazine: Iranian Artists Page, Pouya Afshar )〕 He has directed and produced ''Hecate, Queen of Witches'' and co-directed and produced the documentary short ''The Voided Loom: Kelardasht Carpet'' about the art and dying practice of weaving carpets, both in 2012.
He has been exhibiting his art in United States and Iran, and has developed a unique style for figurative art. His art has an element of socio-political context using twisted and tormented forms that are culturally engaged. Afshar currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He is the creator of the animated series "(Rostam in Wonderland )".
